Our goal is to assist and provide resources to parents, using the Diocese of Allentown Curriculum Guide. The hope is that you will teach your child:
Children will receive classroom instruction where they will learn/review the sign of the cross, the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Grace before/after Meals and the Angel of God prayers. They will also gain exposure to revelation, the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus the Son of God who became man and the Holy Spirit). They will explore a sense of community that exists within the Church, what the Communion of Saints mean defining grace, sin, forgiveness and life everlasting. They will gain exposure to the Sacraments learning their importance. The children will leave the year with an understanding of moral character, use of prayer in their life and who the Holy Family is.
Children are expected to participate in parish community service accumulating 10 points (1 point each time in participation) which includes attending the Children's Liturgy, singing in the Children's Choir or participating in the Zoom Family Rosary with their parents.
This is the level where the children will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is a very important formation year in a child’s life. Children will receive classroom instruction where they will learn the Act of Contrition, Mass Response, Morning Offering. Rosary, and Way of The Cross. They continue to build more detailed understanding of the parts of the Bible and the important information contained in it. They explore Jesus’ Greatest Commandment. The children work to prepare and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Children are expected to participate in parish community service accumulating 10 points (1 point each time in participation) which includes attending the Children's Liturgy, singing in the Children's Choir or participating in the Zoom Family Rosary with their parents.
At this level, the children should be fully engaged in the Parish Community by participating in Sunday Mass and receiving Reconciliation at least during Lent and Advent. They will be preparing to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Learning Apostles' Creed Aspirations (e.g., My Lord and my God; Jesus have mercy on us;) and Divine Praises, the children will become more familiar with the Mass. The children will end the year knowing the Names of the Seven Sacraments and their Categories be intimately familiar with the First Three Sacraments. At year end, the children will receive their Sacrament of the Eucharist.
Children are expected to participate in parish community service accumulating 10 points (1 point each time in participation)which includes attending the Children's Liturgy, singing in the Children's Choir or participating in the Zoom Family Rosary with their parents.
Although not sacramental years, the children grow stronger in their faith through instruction and attending Sunday Mass regularly.
In Level 4, the children will focus on the Holy Spirit. They will dive into the Commandments and Beatitudes, review the Greatest Commandment and learn the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy.
Children are expected to participate in parish community service accumulating 10 points (1 point each time in participation) which includes attending the Children's Liturgy, singing in the Children's Choir or participating in the Zoom Family Rosary with their parents.
In Level 5, the focus is on the Sacraments and the Liturgy. A sense of serving the Parish Community is emphasized.
There is an in-parish community service requirement of 20 points (1 point = 30 minutes of volunteer work) in which the children can serve through altar serving, children’s choir, assisting with the children’s liturgy, or serving in any of our parish ministries with the approval of the DRE.
In Level 6, the children will explore the Old Testament Books. They will learn to pray the Act of Hope, the Memorare and the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary. They will review the Ten Commandments, names of the Books of the Torah (Pentateuch)., and Names of the Four Major Prophets of the Old Testament: Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Elijah.
There is an in-parish community service requirement of 20 points (1 point = 30 minutes of volunteer work) in which the children can serve through altar serving, children’s choir, assisting with the children’s liturgy, join and participate with a parent in the Greeter Committee or serving in any of our parish ministries with the approval of the DRE.
This two year commitment prepares the student to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The student will explore the New Testament with emphasis on the Four Gospels. The Greatest Commandment, The Beatitudes, the Theological Virtues of Faith, Hope and Love, the Prayer to the Holy Spirit and the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary will be taught.
There is an in-parish community service requirement of 20 points (1 point = 30 minutes of volunteer work)per year in which the children can serve through altar serving, children’s choir, assisting with the children’s liturgy, join and participate with a parent in the Greeter Committee or serving in any of our parish ministries with the approval of the DRE.
